Tourney Manager – the SNG and MTT results tracker

This is an independent archive page about the software that lived at tourneymanager.net. It is not run by the original developer, and the program is not for sale or download here. See About.

Tourney Manager was a Windows program for online poker players who played sit-and-gos and multi-table tournaments in volume. It read the hand-history and tournament-summary files that poker clients wrote to disk, worked out where you finished and what you were paid, and turned that into the numbers a grinder actually cares about: return on investment, in-the-money rate, finish distribution, profit per hour and a running bankroll graph.

It was written by RVG Software — the "Roy" behind it went on to build Holdem Manager, and a Holdem Manager moderator later described Tourney Manager as "the first poker hand tracker that Roy made". Version 1.0 was listed as shareware at $40; the trial let you import 50 tournaments before asking for a licence.

What it did

ImportWatched the hand-history folders of the supported sites and imported new tournaments on a keypress (F5). Full Tilt, PartyPoker and PokerStars histories were the main formats; users also reported it recording Absolute Poker / UltimateBet SNG results correctly at a time when Holdem Manager showed them as $0.
ReportsFinish distribution (how often 1st, 2nd, 3rd, bubble …), ROI, ITM %, profit and $/hour, filterable by site, date range and buy-in. A results graph over time. See the reports page.
StorageA local Access-style .mdb database file, which made backups and moving to a new PC a matter of copying one file.
PlatformWindows; required the .NET Framework 2.0, which caused most of the installation problems people posted about.
Versions1.0 (2006) → 1.13 → 1.18b and later builds that fixed Full Tilt 6-max SNGs being classed as full-ring (wrong payout structure) and duplicate imports from PartyPoker.
SupportBy e-mail (tourneymgr@gmail.com) and in the poker forums of the day; there was no company beyond the developer.

Why it existed

In 2006–2008 the general-purpose trackers — PokerTracker 2, Poker Office, later Holdem Manager 1 — were built around cash-game hands. They stored tournament hands but were poor at the one thing a SNG player needs: attributing a buy-in and a payout to each tournament and aggregating hundreds of them. Tourney Manager did only that, which is why it kept a following even after Holdem Manager appeared in 2008. Forum threads from 2009 show people running both side by side and being told to adjust Holdem Manager's "archive duration" so the two programs didn't fight over the same history files.

It was recommended in several poker-school articles of the time. PokerStars School's Italian site described it as software that "automatically loads hand history data and processes it so that you have an overview of placement distribution, ROI and hourly earnings", alongside SitNGo Wizard for bubble training. Poker-Académie listed it among analysis tools as a program "entirely dedicated to the presentation of reports and the analysis of tournament results".

What happened to it

Holdem Manager's tournament reporting caught up, PokerTracker 3 and 4 added proper tournament support, and the sites themselves started writing tournament-summary files that made the job easier. Tourney Manager stopped being updated around 2010 and the domain eventually lapsed. If you are looking for a tracker today, this overview covers what is still maintained.
